Just Plain Tired at 6 weeks

This week was a routine appointment with our midwife. My blood pressure was good and the baby's heart beat was strong. He is still head down with his little bottom in my right or left rib... depending on his mood and his elbow is having a wonderful time poking me CONSTANTLY! :) I did have slight swelling in my ankles this week, so i need to up my protein level. But it wasn't anything serious. I also finished registering at the hospital and I must say that the rooms are very nice! There are a lot of amenities to keep you comfortable and that promote natural birthing methods. One little interesting fact that i learned while i was at the hospital is that a baby's stomach at birth is only the size of a marble, at 3-days is the size of a shooter marble, and by day 10 is the size of a ping pong ball. That means that the colostrum should be plenty for the baby for the first ten days and no supplements are needed in feeding....Pretty cool and interesting stuff!

Also, due to the fact that I'm a complete slacker... the baby shower pics will be coming soon! Sorry for the wait!

Baby's Update:
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds and is probably almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which he'll need to regulate his body temperature once he's born — are filling him out, making him rounder. His central nervous system is still maturing and his lungs are well developed by now. If you've been nervous about going into preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that 99 percent of babies this age can survive outside the womb — and most have no major long-term problems related to prematurity.

My Update:
To sum it up... fatigue, fatigue, fatigue :)

My next appointment will be on June 4th with Dr. Reed at 9:50a who is the doctor that works with Karen, our midwife. At that time I will have the Step B test done and then will start my weekly appointments for the home stretch! He's almost here!
