Our Avocado

16 weeks and rollin'! Here we are in Indy and I have hit 16 weeks. When I was pregnant with Rylen at this time, we were only at about 8 weeks, so this is a much more enjoyable Thanksgiving week. No nausea or morning sickness. In fact, I rarely feel like I am pregnant. I have slacked a bit in my eating in reference to sweets, and I have majorly paid for it. My right wrist is excruciating and I can hardly bend it. I'm hoping that if I get back on track that it will be back to normal in a couple of days. It is quite depressing to not be able to indulge a little bit during the holidays. But such is the life I lead now. So, maybe I am not in FULL remission. Anyway, for the most part I feel good and I will take what I can get. I definitely have a baby bulge now. Not a big one, but it is definitely showing. Well, here is the baby!

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

Continue to keep our new little miracle in your prayers. We are excited for the new addition!
