Our Tomato

19 weeks and counting! I'm almost halfway there! I can't believe it! This pregnancy has FLOWN by. Before we know it, we will have two little ones in the house. How quickly our lives change. A little over two years ago, I was single! Now, I am married with one toddler and another on the way. I definitely feel the punches and kicks now with the baby. They are pretty consistent and not easy to ignore. I am sure that a while back these were the same feelings I was having. I just didn't have time to think about them. They movements are a strange comfort, knowing that the baby is doing well and moving around. Robby and I are not as anxious this time around either. Not that we are pros, but we at least have an idea of what to expect. We are just a few weeks away from finding out what our new little addition will be. I think that is more of an anticipation for me than Christmas! Well, our family is doing well. I feel great, which still has a sense of bittersweetness for me. Please pray that when this baby is born that God will bless me with complete healing. Well, here is the tike's development!

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

God Bless you all this Holiday Season!
