Our Ear of Corn

24 weeks... or shall I say, "16 weeks left!" That is just four months. Not very long at all. The good thing is that we have pretty much everything that we need since we are having a boy again. It is still fun to browse at BabiesRUs and look at all the "stuff". It is amazing all the NEW things since Rylen was born only 18 months ago! But in all honesty, we have all the necessities. If our little one ends up being preemie again, we may have to get some more outfits, but that decision will have to wait for the birth. There will also be a few things that I will replace. Rylen's bibs have become quite... well, disgusting with all his solids, so I will probably get more bibs. And then there are diapers. Oh yes, the diapers. Those we will definitely need to stock up on.

I feel little baby robbins all the time. Some days he is quieter than others, but he always makes his presence known at some point. I have also started to have a little bit of the indigestion like I did with Rylen. It isn't bad by any means, but it is there. I guess he is starting to squoosh everything together. But the item on my brain more than anything these days is a NAME! The dilemma of a name. I asked Robby about it last night and he sighed a HUGE sigh. "Rylen's name was soooo thought out. It is just so much work!" and we went to sleep. HA! Yes, we put a lot of thought into Rylen's name and we will do the same with this precious little boy. We may have to actually think a little harder! Imagine that! Well, don't hold your breath on hearing the name early. Most likely he will be named 2 days after he is born, just like Rylen. All suggestions are welcomed as it may spur some much needed thought. We are not big on typical names, which makes naming a boy very difficult. Girls have MANY more options... even using boys names. and we typically like some reasoning behind it or meaning. (That may be hard for those wanting to give suggestions) So, that is where week 24 stands for the Robbins household...

Now for Baby Robbins:
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
