A New Challenge

Rylen has become quite good at his animal and vehicle puzzles. He can quickly put the pieces in place. In fact, tonight it seemed that it was a race to put them where they needed to go. As each animal piece was placed correctly, the puzzle would make that animal sound as confirmation. Well, Robby and I decided that the puzzle was becoming too easy for him. So, we decided to switch it up a bit. We took the pieces out and turned the puzzle upside down. Then we placed it in front of him to see what he would do. First, he wanted to turn the puzzle around. Very smart solution, but we wouldn't let him. So, we gave him the first animal and asked where it went. He started to put it in its place if the puzzle was right side up and then stopped, pulled the piece back, studied the puzzle and then placed it in its correct spot. You could have heard our cheers a mile away! GOOD JOB RYLEN! His face just beamed. He proceeded to contemplate the remaining pieces and put them all in their correct spot. Such a smart cookie. He had such fun with the new game that he played it quite a few more times. It is so exciting to see your child figure something out and get excited.
