Visit to the Ped

Today my mom and I took both boys to the pediatrician for their checkups. Rylen was due for his 2 year appointment and Jace for his 2 month appointment. Yes, I realize that Rylen is now 25 months and Jace is 3 months, but we had issues with getting them in until now. I called 6 weeks ago and this was the earliest appointment we could get. I was not a happy camper, but there wasn't much I could do. They put me on the wait list for cancellations, but does that ever really happen? I wasn't holding my breath.

The appointment went very well and we walked away with only 3 bandaids and a minimal amount of tears.

Jace
He weighed 10lbs on the dot and 22 inches long. All of his stats were in the 5%. He is doing everything a 3 month old should be doing. He just coos and smiles. Dr. Pope checked his belly and got a belly laugh out of him. It was priceless. Jace received 2 vaccines that we felt were necessary. The others we are skipping altogether or waiting until he is older. I don't want to overload his system at this young age. So, he is following the same route as Rylen.

Rylen
He weighed 23lbs 10oz and was 31.5 inches long. Again, his stats were in the 5%. This is where he has been since birth. So, all was right on track. He is doing all that a 2 year old should be doing at his age and then some. Verbally, he is still not doing a few things, but Dr. Pope was not concerned saying that if other things were off track he would look closer at it, but if he had the numbers of words in his vocab that he was still ok. Rylen definitely has a list of vocab either by signing or saying the words. So, all was good with him as well. Rylen finished the last of one vaccine and he will probably be done for a while.

After all the stats, we had a good talk about all the developments of each boy and have realized that we will probably have a couple more months before we reach 8 hour nights with Jace (He needs to hit 12 lbs) and another year before we have Rylen on the potty training wagon. So, some things to look forward to, but in the meantime we are enjoying each boy where he is at and lovin' it!
